the loam lets the water slide throu but the clay holds it so if the loam and clay are mixed the water will go at a medium speed and let the plant soke up the water

clay because it holds the water in place and the plant can take it in quicker example would be like putting clay inside a bucket dumping water in it and the water compacts and is hold up in the clay becuase when clay is wet it turns smooth
